Best Deals Strategy: For those eager to snag the prime items, arriving closer to the 8 AM start time is highly recommended—the early bird often catches the worm! However, if you're a seasoned negotiator looking for even better bargains, consider visiting later in the day, especially closer to the 2 PM end time. Sellers may be more open to negotiating prices as they aim to clear out their remaining inventory.

Payment & Parking: Most individual garage sales will primarily accept cash, so it's a good idea to bring small denominations (fives, tens, loonies, toonies, and quarters) for smoother transactions. Permits & Bylaws: Good news for Toronto residents: a permit or license is generally not required to hold a garage sale in the City of Toronto. Property owners are permitted to host two garage sales per year, and each sale can last up to two consecutive days.

While no permit is needed, there are a few important rules regarding signage to keep in mind:

• Garage sale signs are allowed to be displayed after 5:00 PM the day before the sale.
• All signs must be removed by 7:00 AM the day immediately following the garage sale.
• Signs should not exceed 0.6 meters (two feet) in any dimension.
